Web cams are the missing link

Just a simple interactive building projection from Nokia to promote Ovi Maps. Nothing spectacular…but simply executed and featuring a car as the webcam, becomes beautifully intuitive. The reaction of the public reminds me of when electric stores first started pointing video cameras out of their shop windows into the street and you couldn’t help but wave to confirm it was real. Projects like these (and upcoming products like Xbox Natal) make it increasingly clear that webcams are fast becoming the missing link in the next phase of innovation between the web and the physical world.
